This week over 500 families from across Leeds received a special Christmas Hamper thanks to the work of all our staff and volunteers and with the help of members of Hope City Church and a number of other organisations & businesses from around the city.
Christmas can be a difficult time for many families who struggle financially or because of social and family issues.
For the last eight years, the project, in partnership with the Leeds congregation of Hope City Church, has been working with local community agencies, schools and businesses to provide substantial food hampers to bring a bit of joy and hope back into the lives of families across the city.
This year has been our biggest delivery to date, with over £8000 being raised, along with donations of food. But it has also been one of the biggest years for referrals, with more and more families finding themselves in difficult circumstances.
Project Director, Mrs Gosia Denham said,
“We love the people of Leeds and we’re here to do all we can to help people live a great life. It’s clear the need is still great and so every year we keep aiming to reach more and more.”
We would like to say a special thank you to all the organisations who gave food or helped with the packing and delivery. This is one of the most important events of our year because we know how much it makes a difference for so many families.
